How to use the cartoon builder
  1. Make each panel, one at a time. When you are satisfied with the results of each panel, then generate the final cartoon.

  2. First of all decide on a Main Title for the cartoon. The box for this is located at the bottom of Panel 1.

  3. Next, add your name or initials, as this will be printed underneath the cartoon, and will help you find it easily in the gallery.

  4. Change the Top Caption for Panel 1.

  5. Select a place from the dropdown list. This is the background image for the panel. If you want to add your own place picture, you can upload them here. Note that these images all need to be 300 pixels wide and 300 pixels high, and in PNG format. All files must be less than 100k file size.

  6. Choose a Left Character from the dropdown. This character will be placed on the left side of the panel. You can upload your own character picture if you like, and these need to be 300 pixels high and 150 pixels wide, and in PNG format. All characters must be placed on white background (RGB= 255,255,255). All files must be less than 100k file size.

  7. Choose a Right Character from the dropdown. This character will be placed on the right side of the panel. You can upload your own character picture if you like, and these need to be 300 pixels high and 150 pixels wide, and in PNG format. All files must be less than 100k file size.

  8. Add some speech for the Left Character (100 characters maximum please).

  9. The right hand speech is generated from an RSS feed. These are comments taken at random from the BBC 'Have your say' discussion forum. Every time you build this panel, another random RSS comment is used.

  10. Select the colour of the text and background for the Left Character speech.

  11. Click on 'Make this panel'. This will build Panel 1.

  12. Repeat the above steps for panels 2 and 3.

  13. Click on the big yellow link at the bottom to generate your final cartoon. Note that you must give your cartoon a title, and make at least the first panel, otherwise the system won't be able to generate a cartoon. Once you've generated your cartoon, you can view it, and then save or print.

  14. You can view all generated cartoons in the Gallery
